Picnic for Battens Disease!

SO Handsome So Lecool

The Handsome Little Fox Night time indoor picnic will be kicking off this Saturday night at South Studios
All you have to do Is pack up your picnic basket, dress In your most handsome fox attire and fill up your hip flasks and pop on down to the studios. Inside will be transformed into outside. The wonderful talents of 'artitectural 'duo ABGC will be helping to transform the space whilst the all 1995 - 2011 All Ireland  High 5 Champions Lecool Dublin will be helping pull the show together and motivating the masses.

All the money raised on the night will be going towards the Bee for Battens charity. A worthy charity that Is trying for nearly the past 2 years to prevent It from becoming unknown.  Battens disease Is a rare and wild disease that takes the lives of children ffrom a very young age. The symptoms occur  late so the child will have a totally normal childhood up until It decides to begin breaking It's way into the child's nervous system rapidly attacking the senses and vital organs. This charity has and It's founders Tony and Mary Heffernan have become dear friends of ours and we try to do everything we can to support them and their cause to save the life of their son effect by this disease and children like him both In Ireland and around the world.

So as well as doing an amazing deed you will be welcomed into a unique space where you will roll out your picnic mat, and put out your spread of treats from the Boggis, Bunce and Bean farm, Some chicken, Goose, Apple Cider? Or just pick something up In the local chipper on the way.
The will some amazing baker selling some homemade goodness from a quaint stall on the night. Bakers include Miss Ita Morrissey , Anne Keenan, Nicila Whelan and Brian Drennan.
There will be awesome little campfires made by the legends that are ABGC on the night but get In early to get one as there will only be a few.
From early In the night music will kick off from the amazing Castle Variations - Solar Quartet , the sweet sound of Replete  and dancing us through the rest of the night will be The Kilo 1977.

The local Pub' Fallons ', has invited us all to squash In after for a pint after words to cool off our dancing shoes and from there the night Is ours.

So we hope to see you all there on Saturday Night the 24th of September from 7pm - 11pm.
The address of South Studios Is 27 - 28 New Row South, Dublin 8, down near the Black Pitts or Dublin Flea Market, up the tiny road by Fallons Pub across from St Pats church.

All you animals at the ready!

PICNIC CHECK LIST!

With only a few days left before the Handsome Little Fox Indoor Picnic we thought It would be nice to make a check list for you so you don't forget anything.

  • A PICNIC BASKET - An essential part of any picnic this basket Is the life line to a good night. For those who enjoy a good picnic you may wish to bake some goods before hand and fill It. To those who have work or are nursing a hangover from the night before your basket can easily be filled at the local Spar, Centra or chipper. DO NOT FORGET your wine or beer for the night and remember to bring a bottle opener.
  • A BINDLE - For those of you who want to try a more traditional approach to your night time picnic let us suggest the hobo bindle. Simply constructed by a napkin, scarf or sack tied around the end of a long stick that Is neatly transported over your shoulder. This simple sack on stick method can hold a hip flask of warming whisky, some rolling tobacco, an apple, half a sandwich and a photo of a long lost love. Easily stored behind any train car and when finished with can be discarded on any roadside for the next travelling hobo stumble upon.
  •  PICNIC MAT -This will be your own personal seating for he evening In South Studios. Invite friends to come sit beside you and share a rug, a handy number to catch spilled wine or just a pleasant place to take a nap before you take to the town later in the night. There will be artificial camp fires made In the studio but it's first come first serve who gets one.
  • HANDSOME FOX ATTIRE - Not necessarily a fancy dress night but we do encourage everyone to get into their most fantastic fox attire. Be It some brown corduroy pants and a foxy jacket or even some fox ears or a mask. A simple fox tail neck tie Is always a favourite or a white sock bandit hat. For any inspiration look no further than the Fantastic Mr Fox movie or If your heart can bare it the Animals of Farthing Wood.
  • CASH MONEY - You can buy tickets online right HERE or on the door. The tickets are €12 on the door or €10 If you say you are a LeCool reader.  To some the tickets may seem expensive, not your average 5 bucks to get In he back of Whelans. Let us explain where your money Is going.  All the money will be donated to The Bee for Battens charity which Is trying to help children with rare and wild fatal diseases like Battens Disease. The reason why this charity needs to be supported I sthat It has very little support from the Government, if any at all. We have work closely with the charity making an online advert for their cause HERE. Your donation will go towards the creation of Liams Lodge In Co. Kerry. The first of Its kind this lodge will be a place for children suffering with fatal rare diseases like Battens disease and give them a comfortable space to live In. We know the family personally who lost their daughter Saoirse to battens and who to this day are still fighting to save their little son Liam from the same faith so we can tell you your donation on the night will mean more than you know. Also think of it as a really great house party, you save by bringing your own drink instead of forking out loads of drinks at a bar, you get to listen to great music like Replete and The Kilo, eat homemade food and baked goodies and share the evening with like minded good folk. Well worth every penny.
Another reason Is its also Orlaith Ross birthday and she will be celebrating It at the picnic so that means nearly all of Dublin should be there.

We hope ye have everything checked and look forward so much to sharing your company on the night for what will be a unique and beautiful evening of good food, wine and music.

A Handsome little Musical Line-up

We are happy to announce the musical treats on the night of the Handsome Little Fox Picnic.
CASTLE VARIATIONS - SOLAR QUARTET
REPLETE
THE KILO 1977

CASTLE VARIATIONS: This Is what happens when someone takes the idea of having a jam with a few musicians and making It a very special creative experience for both the musician and the listener. The Castle Variations have already created a unique environment In Killaghy Castle In Co. Kilkenny bringing musicians from all disciplines together to write, create and record music on the spot. The results are always original, fun and In a load of ways cosy. Whats great Is they are like a big Lucky Bag, you never know what you might get? Some Funk, Jazz, Post Rock, Progressive Decepticon Soundwave Spoon Tunes, who knows? What you always get Is a group of extremely talented musicians who can construct a non pretentious sound that seems to be in tune with the environment around them. Perfect night time picnic music.

REPLETE is the music of very talented Peter Lawlor. Having the pleasure of seeing Repletes set at this years Electric picnic was a definite highlight and we feel over the moon to have him play at our little picnic. His music can be described as Ambient chill out or pulsy electronica with delicate harmonic undertones but to us Its just lovely. Following the same music back roads as Moths and James Blake  Its only a matter of time before Replete Is on the highway hitch hiking his way to the top of the musical food chain. Make sure you see him now so you can say In a few years " Awwww I was there at the very beginning when he started out, I'm not sure about the new sound and calling himself the 'Artist Formally known as Replete but I still definitely would ".

THE KILO 1977 is the hand spun music of the gentleman DJ Mr John Kealy. Kilo has been literally spinning vinyl since 1977. Rumour has It, on the morning of his birth as The Kilo was being pushed out into the world he past his decks out to the doctor first saying to him " here hold that there while I go back for me hat".
They should make Ipods constructed from bits of The Kilo. Music would never sound the same again, especially If you were out for a run. You will turn every house you pass Into a house party and everyone you run by into James Brown.
This man owns soul, he deals In funk and for a small payment In dance moves he will sell you one of the best remixes you did ever hear. What Is that remix? Well throw down yo picnic mat, get yo break dance on and find out

EARLY BIRD TICKETS €12 HERE
